Unable to generate API Key

When I hit “Create API key”, I get an error (screenshot below). I don’t have ad blockers. Cookies are allowed, too. Tried in multiple browsers.

I am also facing same issue . I am using Firefox.

Apologies, we are working on better errors.
What we see affecting several users is when using a workspace account (non @gmail.com address) belonging to an organisation, they don’t have permission to create cloud projects in their organisation, which is what is happening behind the scenes when generating an API key.

We recommend using a different account (use the top left corner to switch) to any normal Google account.

Thanks for replying. Oddly, I’m not using a workspace account. I’m using my personal gmail!

From the browser console log - it looks like the reporting call has failed too.

m=_b:794 Failed to report error rz {g: false, status: tG, stack: 'RpcError\n at new rz (https://www.gstatic.com/_/…:ebZ3mb;lOO0Vd:OTA3Ae;qafBPd:ovKuLd/m=_b:954:398)'}```

I see, this could happen to non workspace accounts that manage an organisation as well or anything that restricts the account from having a cloud project. One way to dig into this is to go to go to https://console.cloud.google.com/ and check for projects, and whether an organisation appears (select a project on the left of the search bar).

For better assistance could you please email alphagenome@google.com from the account you’re using so we could help debug the issue for you?

I am also getting the same problem, do you know when this is likely to be resolved for organisation-linked emails?

Sadly we cannot resolve this on our end, to use the API you need to have a cloud project with the API enabled and generate an API key there.
If you belong to an organisation and have no permission to create/modify cloud projects we cannot bypass it.
We recommend using a separate account.
