The article uses the hg38 reference genome for its analyses. **My question is: can I perform the conversion using reference genomes from other human populations or specific ethnic groups instead?**

Hi There!

Thanks for reaching out.

Yes you can into a genomic sequence and use predict\_sequence. The benefit of predict\_interval is that it uses the gene annotations of the reference, which is important for some of the scoring methodologies employed by score\_variant. The gene annotation are also really helpful for plotting purposes. I recommend you use a coordinate conversion tool like liftover to move from (eg) hg19 to hg38.

Kind regards,
Tumi
